Website

Description

www.angliacampus.co.uk

A few 'freebie' lesson ideas but you need to subscribe to get the most out of the site.

www.bbc.co.uk/schools

Good stuff! Lots of free downloads and interactive activities.

www.becta.org.uk

BECTA is the 'British Educational Communications and Technology Agency'. No downloadable materials but if you are interested in ICT in education this is the site to visit.

www.blackdog4kids.com

It's very American and is plagued by pop-ups but it has some useful resources for young children.

www.crocodile-clips.com An extremely useful download for teaching (or learning about !) electrical circuits.

www.counton.org

Excellent maths site that has replaced mathsyear2000. It's very easy to navigate and very thorough. Do visit it!

www.clickteaching.com

This is a subscribable resource for primary, relatively cheap at £14.95 per year.

www.educate.org.uk

Once again, primary resources but this time they're free!

www.educationict.org.uk

The 'Scottish Borders Council'. The site lists lots of 'How to's', tips and advice in pdf and Word formats.

www.enchantedlearning.com

Lots of useful factsheets for the primary curriculum. This is an American site that is running an 'honor' system. They're hoping that users will make a voluntary contribution towards the costs of their site. It's your call!

www.e-schools.co.uk

A site with some excellent primary resources that are available for use on-line or for printing as worksheets.

www.espresso.co.uk

Apparently "The UK's leading broadband content company". I've recently seen their content demonstrated and it really is impressive. If you have interactive whiteboards available then this is well worth considering for spending your e-learning credits.

www.firstschoolyears.com

The description used to read, "Foundation or KS1 teacher? Look no further than the First School Years site. There are no interactive elements for pupils but there are plenty of good quality, well organised worksheets for teachers and TAs."

The bad news is that this used to be a free site, but you never get 'summat for nowt' as they say (with the exception of this fine site of course!). Don't despair though, you can still download a demo copy and if you like what you see you can pay £15 for access to a whole section (site license included). Will £15 save you 15 hours work? If so, it's a bargain!

www.footee.net (currently experiencing difficulties - try www.play-footee.co.uk

in the meantime.

Don't be put off by the opening titles! Children have to work through tasks to build their ideal team; the more tasks they complete the better their team will perform.

www.hamilton-trust.org.uk

A site offering downloadable resources in English and maths for primary. Navigation takes a little effort the first time around but persevere!

www.howstuffworks.com

This is a general interest site, useful for research, just try not to get distracted from your task!

www.hyperstaffs.info Hyperstaffs is a collection of educational multimedia lessons that were created by Staffordshire University students studying interactive multimedia with Dr. Melissa Lee Price.

www.icteachers.co.uk

There's plenty here, including curriculum resources and policies. A cursory glance reveals that they even have a downloadable chronological age calculator. Bless them!

www.interactivewhiteboards.co.uk

Okay, so it's not really a website resource in the same way as the other links here but their software product for primary really is good, and I'm not easily impressed! If you have the magic board and don't have this software do please investigate it.

www.kented.org.uk

Kent LEA's official site. Lots of resources and sensible advice. Well worth a visit!

www.learn.co.uk

An exhaustive website reaching as far as Year 12. It features a useful search tool.

www.literacylessons.co.uk

Does exactly what it says on the can...but only for KS2 and KS3. Limited materials but free!

www.mapzone.co.uk

A highly visual and very well constructed map fest for KS1 and 2. Fabulous!

www.mathsnet.net

This site has really developed since my last visit. There's a huge range of resources for older children. Definitely worth a look!

www.Ncaction.org.uk

This website uses pupils' work and case study material to show what the National Curriculum looks like in practice.

www.nc.uk.net/textonly.html

Download the entire National Curriculum here. Very useful!

www.ngfl.gov.uk

This is the official 'National Grid for Learning' website. Plenty of links to useful sites and a way of keeping up with new developments.

www.nwnet.org.uk Some very enticing interactive whiteboard software for the summer term in primary schools.

www.ordsvy.gov.uk

The Ordnance Survey site. This has an excellent educational facility which allows you to create your own materials. It's well worth a visit!

www.primarygames.co.uk

Lots of resources but you do have to pay for a password to access them (£10 for a single-user license). I've seen it used in a school recently and it looks fairly good, £10 for a worksheet generator (and more) is probably a good deal...

www.primaryresources.co.uk

Lots of worksheets and ideas for the primary range. Bookmark it!

www.puzzlemaker.com

An excellent site that enables users to customize a whole host of different puzzles for classroom usage.

www.qca.org.uk

Lots of valuable information about how the curriculum is structured. The actual QCA schemes of work can be downloaded (one unit at a time or the entire scheme) by going to www.standards.dfee.gov.uk/schemes

www.qualityteachingresources.co.uk

KS2 materials in PDF.

www.schoolzone.co.uk

A very large site that offers searchable resources.

www.scienceweb.org.uk

This is a valuable resource not only for science co-ordinators but also for anyone teaching science. Lots of information and downloadable resources that support the QCA schemes of work.

www.senteacher.org A very clear, easily navigated site that offers a good range of very useful resources and links.

www.softronix.com/logo.

I suspect most schools now have a version of Logo but if not there's now no excuse! This is a free Logo download, although a donation to the American Multiple Sclerosis charity is requested on startup of the program.

www.speechteach.co.uk

As recommended from our forum! This is a speech therapy website with some useful free downloads.

www.standards.dfee.gov.uk

Visit the standards site to order or download publications and resources. The numeracy section currently allows you to download some nice interactive material for primary starter sessions . Click Here for a direct link.

www.talkingteaching.co.uk

A relatively new site that's still building, nevertheless there are some useful hints, tips and ideas available.

www.teacherxpress.com

At first sight the index page is overwhelming, but this is an astonishing springboard for a vast quantity of useful information. Bookmark it, add it to favourites, but whatever you do, don't forget about it!

www.teachernet.gov.uk/resources

Teachernet once again, the official DfES site for teachers and their accomplices! They also do lesson plans...

www.teacherslibrary.org.uk

A large range of lesson plans, worksheets and resources. Use the search facility to make the site viable!

www.teachingideas.co.uk

A collection of resources for primary teaching.

www.teachingandlearningresources.co.uk

Rather nice, this one! A nice, easy to navigate site with links for teachers and pupils as well as fun pages. A KS2 bias, the site is featured on NGfL and is well worth a look.

www.teem.org.uk

Teem (Teachers Evaluating Educational Multimedia) is a searchable website that details teacher evaluations of current software. It is well structured and easy to access. If you're about to buy some software for your school visit here first!

www.timetoteach.co.uk

They claim 'Instant Maths Powerpoint Lessons and Cheap Educational Resources'. Up to Y7.

www.the7sisters.co.uk

This site has recently achieved NGfL Badged Resource status. There is a Kid's section offering interactive activities, whilst the main part of the site offers downloadable files covering the National Curriculum from Art to Word Processing.

www.theideabox.com

Really more 'What to do with your toddler during the school holiday' than educational material but the craft recipes look interesting...

www.thelighthouseforeducation.co.uk/home.htm

This is North East Lincolnshire's site, and very fine it is too. It's readily searchable and regularly updated with lots of links and resources. Visit it, spend five minutes getting accustomed to its style, and you'll be hooked!

Thinking Things from Snaith Primary School

A beautifully crafted website that provides plenty of support for the primary curriculum.

www.topmarks.co.uk

This is effectively a launchpad for searching educational materials on the web. Highly searchable and highly effective!

www.tutorhunt.com If you're a student looking for a tutor, or even a tutor looking for a student, this website aims to help you find your perfect match.
www.worksheetfactory.com Free downloadable maths worksheet generator, which is very simple but good for reinforcement activities. Also a downloadable Wordsearch generator, very useful for presenting spelling lists in a different way.

www.worksheetlibrary.com

Nicely presented, easily navigated site that allow downloads of worksheets once you have paid a yearly subscription of $30. Definitely worth a look for the quality of materials offered.

For those of you who haven't guessed, I'm a primary practitioner, which means that my interest in websites is inevitably biased towards materials aimed at the lower key stages. The following sites are aimed at KS3/4, and as yet I haven't had time to review them. If you'd like to post a comment (and this is supposed to be your website!) please send your reviews to me using the 'contact advice' link at the top of the page. Thanks for your help!
